Brendan,
Sounds like the web page you're attempting to load uses Javascript (which is very common), and the BlackBerry Browser is having trouble with it (also very common). The script that's failing might not be that important. Try going into browser options and change Javascript settings and see if the page will load and function adequately.

About the browser shortcuts problem, I don't remember what that was about. Can you remind me, please?

Kelly,
Now that I've found you, can I ask a further question.
Browser on my Blackberry Curve 8320 is now working fine. Sometimes however I get a "running script" which lasts forever. Then a blank page and finally, "the page you requested was created using form data. The page is no longer available".
If I answer "No" I get a blank page again. If "Yes" I'm taken back to the previous page.
Also I can't seem to get those Browser shortcuts to work.
Any further ideas would be appreciated.

Brendan,
Removing the battery is like a "magic pill" for a BlackBerry. Use it anytime you suspect your BlackBerry is acting wierd.

Kelly, I had given up on finding a solution to "A problem has occurred which makes it impossible to render the command" when I happened on your blog site. Tried your idea of removing the battery for short period. A miracle-it worked. Can't thank you enough. Will be watching your site in future for more gems.

Linnea,
I don't think the specific act of visiting the BlackBerry site did the trick. But, clearly, something happened during that time that resolved the problem. Your cycling power might have fixed it but not till after you accessed the web looking for an answer. In any case, I'm happy you got your problem fixed. Thanks for visiting newBBie.com.

Hi Kelly,
many thanks. I did two things while waiting for an answer and it worked. I turned my blackberry full off, waited, turned it back on. No help. Then I went to the blackberry online help center on my actual blackberry, not on my computer, and typed in a few questions on the lines of "changed menu key". Naturally, there was no answer to my question and I submitted that their answer had not helped. However, my menu key went back to normal. Could it be that interacting with Blackberry's site somehow reset my keys?! Normally, I would scoff but that is what I did and the problem, for the moment at least, is resolved. I have the regular bookmarks, add bookmark and most importantly for me, the "go to" list item.
The next time this happens, and it will I am sure, I will do all the above.
Many thanks for the quick response and for your advice which will now be included in my standard troubleshooting routines.
all best,
Linnea

Linnea,
This is a fairly frequent problem but I'm not sure what causes it. First, something you should always try when you see strange behavior on your BlackBerry is to do a battery pull: remove, wait, replace, wait. That resets everything back to normal (unless there is a permanent problem). After doing that, make sure you have a signal (really what I mean is make sure your Mobile Network, or radio, is turned on--but if you have some "bars" of signal strength, you're OK). From the Home Screen, do Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (press Menu key) > Register Now. Let your phone sit for a few minutes (I'm not sure how long exactly) to let the phone get "registered" on the network again. Then see if your browser problem has been resolved. If not, there is one other thing you can try, called "resending service books." We'll discuss that if it becomes necessary. Please do let me know what happens. Good luck!

Sir,
I'm hoping you can help. I have had my BB Curve for some time, but recently the menu key has changed. My menu key suddenly has no menu items for my bookmarks or a "go to" link. I can not go anywhere; I can't write in an address. I can't go to my bookmarks... I have no idea what happened.

The only thing I have changed recently was I downloaded Google Maps. I suppose it is possible that doing that changed something (??) but I don't know how to uninstall Google Maps to find out.

(The items the menu key now has are only help/select mode/page view/Find/Stop/home/Recent pages/History Refresh/Set Encoding/Page Address/Send address/ Options/Save Page/ Switch applications/Close) I have tried them all. In fact, I have pretty much gone through the entire options and help pages to no avail.

I am going crazy not being able to search or write in an address - I am stuck with CNN and google maps as the only two webpages I can connect to.

I have surfed all over the web on my computer, but yours is the only site that seems that it could help. Can you help? I would be super appreciative.
Thanks and all best
