Every time I activate the system, the hour glass rolls on the screen and takes awhile to activate the section that I’m in. Also, when I use speed dial, it connects to the party that I’m calling and then disconnects. Help!

Must be something wrong with the 8130 as the hour glass in the middle of the screen does not stop. When I choose another application it does not activate, the hour glass continues to turn with no response…aggrivated.

Robert,
I had that exact same behavior when I had an extreme memory shortage. Read my post about what happened when I installed one application too many: http://blackberry8130.wordpress.com/2007/12/31/viigo-rendered-my-blackberry-useless/. Have you installed any applications? And/or, do you have a large number of applications (standard or new 3rd-party) running and using up memory? Do Options > Status and read the “File free” number to see how memory you have free.

I’m eager to hear your response. It’s either memory or you have a bad phone.

Now can you help me on how to find on my pearl how to find where a list is when I upload from my computer? I have a memory card but can’t find how to get to lists, and how to do -to dos, etc in the blackberry menu. I’m sure I must just be missing a step but its making me crazy! Help is so appreciated!

When you have a device that is always showing the hour glass or constantly reboots are won’t hold a battery charge, the first thing I would do is update the operating software on the device.

Just go to the blackberry site and find the HANDHELD CODE for your specific device or just plug it into your desktop manager (which can also be downloaded from blackberry site) and click “update now”.

Cassie,
Thanks for sharing that. There are some people whose BlackBerry won’t even stop rebooting long enough to get it to work with Desktop Manager, so they’re in a real pickle. I get a lot of pleas for help from those folks. There is a complicated and tricky procedure that is supposed to work, but I’ve never had a phone that needed that, so I haven’t tried the procedure.

Mr Carter, I am one of those individuals whos BB8100 will not stop rebooting enough to even connect to the desktop… I am desperate! What are those “complicated and tricky procedures that you know of? If I could flash the bios on this darn thing I would!!!

Richard,

Let me know how it works out, please.

P.S.–If you can’t recover it, BBRepairShop (see my article) can do it for about $50. They reportedly have about 30 different procedures they can try, and succeed 98% of the time.

Hi, just got my BB Bold yesterday and I love it. One thing:

At the top, from the left right after the status mode icon (the speaker) there is a yellow envelope (message I figure) with an increasing number next to it (each time the number increses the phone just gave me an alert – message in). So I assumed there are inbox messages but when I go to messages there is a big ol white screen saying no messages.

I think there is some sort of configuration involved but I am so anti-talent with technical stuff… HELP! I need to read my messages!

Thank you!

Adriana

Adriana,
It may depend on the theme you are using, but there are slightly different icons for email messages versus text (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) messages. And there is a setting that allows you to have all your messages (of all types) go into one inbox (using one icon) or into separate inboxes (using two separate icons: one for email and one for SMS/MMS). See if you can’t find another message/inbox icon that shows the messages your phone says have been received. If you can’t find one, try this: from the Home Screen, press the Menu key and select “Show All.” All “hidden” icons will show up. You can re-hide them (all or individually) the same way if you don’t like having them visible.

Please let me know if that resolves your problem or not.
