Thanks for your concern about the HTML problems on this page/article. This site is based on WordPress.org blog code and a 3rd party theme I purchased. So, none of the code is mine, although I have had to tweak the stylesheet. I will probably overhaul the site design in the next year, mostly to make it simpler and cleaner. Stay in touch.

Disregard the last message, it’s this article that breaks the layout. The “database sizes” images are to blame. You can probably just edit the float style of the image or, if you can add HTML tags, add “” above the second database sizes image.

Thanks so much, it worked like a charm. By the way, I know it’s old and outdated and really sucks but unfortunately I’m stuck with IE 6.0 (my old computer and OS can’t handle 7.0 for some reason). Just thought you’d like to know this website’s layout breaks in IE 6.0.

Yes, I think it’s possible that you can follow all the “rules” and still have memory problems, but I think/hope it’s very rare. You can try swapping phones through Telus if they’ll let you, just be aware you may be given a refurbished phone versus a new phone.

Upgrading the 8130’s operating system (see my article on that)–if your phone NEEDs an upgrade–could be a big improvement. Many report that it is for them. You may not feel comfortable doing that kind of upgrade, so read the article and the reader comments before you try it.

Your memory going to zero twice in a day is totally ridiculous and a sure sign something is wrong. If you’ve read my article and done all I recommend, then something is clearly wrong. Let me know what you decide to do, and I’ll help all I can.

Ive had my BB pearl 8130 since June and I havent had any problems with my memory I realize that you have to watch your memory every so often and around once a week I would do a battery pull but for the last week at least twice a day my memory goes down to 0 and i loose my sms and call logs I havent put any new applications except for 1 theme and so I deleted it thinking maybe it was causing the problem ive read your article and have done everything but still no difference and really its driving me insane…. im not sure if I should take it to my provider ( telus ) But my question is can your phone develop a memory problem that has nothing to do with how you use your phone after months of having no problem with it?

Julie,
I would keep my date/time source set to be network, as that will be more accurate in the long run. Your problem didn’t have anything to do with that setting. The reset cleared up whatever was wrong.

Hi Kelly!

After I posted my question, I looked at my options again and my Time Zone was right, but my Date/Time Source was set to Network, so I switched it to Blackberry to see if it would work. It didn’t work at first but I ended up turning my phone off and back on for another reason, and it seemed to end up fixing the problem! So if anyone else has Sprint and is having this problem, try that and hopefully it will work for you too.
