I have the files I need in XLS and also have converted to CSV and just need them put into a IPD file to load. Frustrating! Thanks. ahkhan on "can't use bb svcs on ex-verizon unlocked phone" http://newbbie.com/forums/topic.php?id=73#post-134 Tue, 10 Nov 2009 11:46:36 +0000 ahkhan 134@http://newbbie.com/forums/ I've got a 9530 storm that was originally verizon. its been duly unlocked, and one can verify that its properly unlocked. the voice services work fine no matter which network sim is installed. the first problem was that the network name wouldn't show up (it would show 'activation required'). i took care of that by ##000000Send and typing my mobile number in the first line. however, now i've installed a telenor pakistan sim. the voice services are working fine. i've had bb svces activated, but thats where the problem starts. the network tells me that i should have EDGE showing up. but what happens is that on battery reload GSM shows up...but after 20 seconds it shows gprs (apparently caps and lowers matter!). today, they formatted the phone and reinstalled the latest 4.7 os. but still nothing. same problem. the sim was crosschecked in another blackberry, and all svces activated fine. one thing to note is that even after the format, when you carry out the ##000000send, it is still showing verizon data in there....like emails etc etc. i've tried to delete them, but the screen won't exit with the changes. the carrier thinks that there are some verizon settings that are still stopping it from hooking up with an alternate carrier. your help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.. katanajo on "No sound when I answer the phone but the other person can hear me" http://newbbie.com/forums/topic.php?id=15#post-133 Sun, 27 Sep 2009 17:23:04 +0000 katanajo 133@http://newbbie.com/forums/ I am a technology manager and I have two employees + me using the Blackberry Storm. These Storms were purchased when they first came out. The frustration level of dropped calls for me was high. I would be on a conference call and the call would just get lost. It didn't happen directly after charging. The device could be off the charger for a long period of time and then bam, the call would drop. Also, my battery life sucked. I finally complained to my Verizon rep and asked for a new device. Which they did at no charge. Very odd I thought, not like them at all. I received the device and it is definitely different than my old one. The touch screen seems easier to use and texting as well. You don't have to press so hard on the screen for the replacement device. I had upgraded my device with all the patches so I'm not sure what is different but I had several people test between the two and you can tell the difference. So far, knock on wood, I haven't had one drop call. Also, just a note, when I used my blue tooth or a wired headset, a call was NEVER dropped. I believe I did the data transfer incorrectly. I backed up the Pearl data and restored it onto the Curve. It's nice that everything looks the same and there's not much of a learning "curve" (lol), but I feel I may be missing out on functionality the Curve has to offer that the Pearl didn't. If I am correct on my assumption, how would one go about restoring the original Curve data because OF COURSE I didn't think the make a back-up of it before I did the transfer. He's not using a memory card, just the phones' internal memory. The phone was purchased one year ago (and I do not know if it has had any os upgrades). He does not want to send these to his pc or anything, he just wants to see the photos that are stored on the phone - with his phone. I have not solved it. I have the 4.5 update on it and it has been working for several months prior to this happening. I once got it working again by rebooting the phone, but that hasn't worked for me again!!?? Speaker phone work fine, volume up/dowm buttons move the slider correctly. When I go to voice notes, I can record and playback throu the earpeice so the hardware is OK. There must be a glitch in the system somwhere causing this. I would like any possible thing to try. My bold wont activate wireless (just keep activating till i get an error). When I put my SIM on another device, it activates almost immediately. the difference between the two devices: 1) one that doesnt activate : it's a blackberry bold, bought in US (I am currently in Dubai) NOT locked (I can receive / make calls, sms, I can even access the internet and until recently I was able (altho i didnt sync it wirelessly but just used the cable because I didnt want to wait till our admin can give me a password) to receive emails wirelessly.) I have done everything from wiping the device several times, to asking Admin to remove / recreate my account, even called carrier who confirmed that "all is OK" on their side. 2) one that activates : it's 8310 bought locally (from the carrier : Etisalat). There's one things that I think might be the problem : when I wipe the device and restarts I immediately get two emails : 1) Your BB has been registered with wireless network 2) Welcome to ROGERS (instead of Etisalat - the local carrier that I am using.
